Random Flickr Image #7154

Random Flickr-blogging explained. As always, everyone is welcome to join in the fun; just post links to your entries in the comment thread at the bloghub, If I Ran the Zoo.

This week the assigned random number was 7154. Flickr had 2,179 photos uploaded with that number. It seemed to me that there was an unusually large collection of cute-kid pictures. I decided to post only pics of individual babies under 3 or so years of age. Even so, I came up with TEN of them! Remember the song: "Everybody loves a baby, that's why we invited you! Pretty baby! Pretty baby!...."

Here's how it works: Every week, we all start with the same randomly-generated four-digit number (call it ####).Participants go to Flickr and search for "IMG_####". There are anywhere from a few hundred to a couple thousand results. One chooses an image or two from among the results posts it to his/her blog (along with attribution and a link back to the page where the image appears)--The blogger then writes about the image. The writer can make up a story about it, connect it to some issue, or just post it as an image he/she really likes.

Perfection

Beauty is no random find.

Its residence is in the mind.

Eyes feast then telegraph the brain

hue, texture, line, and grain.

Blooms of coral, salmon, blush,

Rose, magenta, fuchsia, flush

Rest on leaves of jade, and lime, and willow;

Viridian shades give mossy pillow.

Eyes viewed and did their duty.

The mind itself discerned the beauty.

When I saw this photo I thought of that scene in the movie "Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid" in which Butch and Sundance were running from a posse and came to a dead end at a cliff. There was no where else to go, so Paul Newman's character prepared to jump. Robert Redford's character, the Sundance Kid, sheepishly admitted that he couldn't swim. Butch laughed and replied, "Oh H---, the fall will probably kill ya!" Then they took a running jump and sailed off the cliff.

I forgot to copy the information for this photo. I remember that it was filed under roadtrip and scenery among other file categories. What a majestic landscape! I'd like to know where the photo was taken.

Random Flickr Image 0564 - Sisterhood

I viewed several pages of Flickr images with this identifying number before deciding on this one to post. (There were dozens more pages that I did not view.) I chose this picture, which I assumed to be of sisters, in honor of my four sisters. My strong emotional response to this photo centered on the facial expressions of the two little girls. The taller girl's hand on the younger one's back and the proximity of the girls' bare feet demonstrated their comfort and familiarity with each other. The way the younger child is leaning into the older one implies her affection for her protecting older sister. The shadows of the trees and the drooping limb of the willow tree help create the comforting mood of family and home.
