JODHPURS - An Acrostic Poem

The Deadlines for Writers poetry assignment for the month was to write an acrostic poem. ARGHHH! First of all, I don't think this is even a legitimate poetry form, and second and third, I don't like to read or write them. I spent a long time with meaningful topics and got nowhere trying to write something with meaning using this format. I have never seen a pair of Jodhpurs or ever given them any thought, but three days before deadline, the word popped in my head, and I wrote the first worst version of this poem. I submitted it this morning in this form.

JODHPURS

Jodhpurs! What a funny word! –

Odd in spelling and sound.

Doing duty today to jumpstart a poem –

How those deadlines come rushing around!

Pants for riding a horse, it seems, are

Uniquely designed for a rider.

Really snug at the boot-top, but then at the hips

Suddenly Jodhpurs get wider and wider!
