Searchers

The fourth poetry assignment of 2021 in the Deadlines for Writers poetry group was to write a sonnet. This is my entry.

Searchers

We search the world with open hearts and minds

To find life’s secrets hid from easy view.

We ask of life the good, the pure, the kind,

To be the pane for beauty to shine through.

**

Not satisfied with dregs, we search for more –

More life, more love, more peace, more common ground.

We savor laughs and even sadness sore,

As part of life that helps us live unbound.

**

The power of the sea fills us with awe -

Its endless motion, changing hue and song;

The peace of mountain views and forest’s calm

Help us embrace the right, resist the wrong.

**

We’re searchers, dreamers, seekers, pioneers;

We listen for the music of the spheres.

We a nod of appreciation to James Kavanaugh,
