Sing Peace

Today is Deadline Day in the Deadlines for Writers Poetry Group. The topic for this assignment was simply "rhyme." I decided to write another sonnet, one of my favorite poetry forms which incorporates rhyme.  I had little time to invest in this project since I have been needed in care-giving after Jim's total knee replacement last month and Mother's continuing decline with aging. I intend to polish this one when I have time; but I will submit it today in this rough form.

Sing Peace

A Sonnet

**

The world around us pulses haste and noise;

And tranquil spirits falter in the din.

So we who long for peace must make a choice.

To listen and respond with placid mien.

**

A life of peace without surrender starts

With calming speech when others’ passions flare.

Speak truth, with clarity and open heart

To hear the thoughts of others bent to share.

**

No less than forests green and stars and cloud,

Your presence on the Earth is God’s desire.

Though cymbals clang and voices clamor loud,

Let your voice blend with angels’ in His choir.

**

In all life’s broken dreams and noisy strife,

Sing peace, sing peace! For that’s triumphant life.
