I Hope You Dance - Taking Risks

The Song, "I Hope You Dance" has been one of my favorites since the first time I heard it. It expresses such a positive wish for loved ones. My DH bought a CD of it for each of our grandchildren as our wish for them. Here are the words.

I hope you never lose your sense of wonder
You get your fill to eat but always keep that hunger
May you never take one single breath for granted
God forbid love ever leave you empty handed

I hope you still feel small when you stand beside the ocean
Whenever one door closes, I hope one more opens
Promise me that you'll give faith a fighting chance
And when you get the choice to sit it out or dance
I hope you dance

I hope you dance

I hope you never fear those mountains in the distance
Never settle for the path of least resistance
Living might mean taking chances, but they're worth taking
Loving might be a mistake, but it's worth making

Don't let some hellbent heart leave you bitter
When you come close to selling out, please reconsider
Give the heavens above more than just a passing glance
And when you get the choice to sit it out or dance
I hope you dance(Time is a real and constant motion)
I hope you dance(Always rolling us along)
I hope you dance(Tell me who)
I hope you dance(Wants to look back on their youth and wonder
Where those years have gone)

I hope you still feel small when you stand by the ocean
Whenever one door closes, I hope one more opens
Promise me you'll give faith a fighting chance
And when you get the choice to sit it out or dance,
Dance
I hope you dance
I hope you dance (Time is a real and constant motion)
I hope you dance (Always rolling us along)
I hope you dance (Tell me who)
I hope you dance (Wants to look back on their youth and wonder)
I hope you dance (Where those years have gone)
(Tell me who)
I hope you dance(Wants to look back on their youth and wonder
Where those years have gone)

I found these other comments on the value of taking life by the horns and really living life:

"It seems to me that people have vast potential. Most people can do extraordinary things if they have the confidence or take the risks. Yet most people don't. They sit in front of the telly and treat life as if it goes on forever." Philip Adams

"Take calculated risks. That is quite different from being rash." George S. Patton

"Our lives improve only when we take chances - and the first and most difficult risk we can take is to be honest with ourselves." Walter Anderson

A life spent making mistakes is not only more honorable but more useful than a life spent in doing nothing." George Bernard Shaw

"There is no security on this earth. Only opportunity." Douglas MacArthur
