A Nice, Cold Iced Tea

The Keep Writing Assignment for 5/4/2020 was to write an 85-word (exactly) story using the prompt "modern." I inserted data in an online story-generator (modern invention?) then edited the resulting story until it met the word-count specifications.

A Nice, Cold Iced Tea

Frances stood at the window of the peaceful lake cabin her parents had left her and watched the blue sedan approach.

She gulped. Norma Normandy, prickly and complaining, was someone to be avoided.

Frances stepped outside, meeting the steel in Norma’s eyes.

Suddenly, a blast of country music burst from the neighbor’s house, interrupting their hostile stares.

Noticing Norma’s lips compress even further, Frances grinned, “Now there’s something we can hate together! Come in, Friend. Would you like a nice, cold glass of iced tea?”
