I just finished a book I bought at the used book store yesterday -- Georgia Trivia compiled by Ernie and Jill Couch.

Here are a few questions for you -- Perhaps some of you Southerners would like to try these on for size.

  1. What is the greatest distance north to south in the state?
  2. What is the greatest distance east to west in the state?
  3. Approximately how long is the GA coastline?
  4. What college campus covers 28,000 acres making it the largest college campus in the world?
  5. What was the name of the post office established in 1835 on the site of present day Atlanta?
  6. By what name was present-day Atlanta -Harstfield-Jackson-International airport first known?
  7. What Atlanta-born singer began her career by winning on The Ted Mack's Amateur Hour at the age of 8?
  8. In what GA city did Julia Roberts spend her childhood?
  9. In what GA city did Travis Tritt spend his childhood?
  10. In what GA city was Holly Hunter born?

Now don't peek until you've given these a try; but here are the answers: 1.) 315 miles; 2.) 250 miles; 3.) 100 miles; 4.) Berry College in Rome; 5.) White Hall; 6.) Candler Field; 7.) Gladys Knight; 8.) Smyrna; 9.) Marietta; 10.) Conyers.
