Thursday Thirteen

Thirteen Things Joan Has Done
in the first 5 Days of 2006

…. Read The Survivors Club by Lisa Gardner - a 5-star thriller on the scale of 1-5 stars for holding one's attention and keeping the action going in this action-packed murder mystery. Who killed the serial rapist on the courthouse steps? Was it one of the survivors of his rapes?

....Read Kill and Tell by Linda Howard - a 3- or 4-star whodunnit on the scale mentioned above. This author always has a fairly steamy romance story going alongside the mystery in her novels. This one is no exception.

....Read Creative Broodings by Robert Raines - a 3- or 4-star devotional book on the scale of 1-5 for insightful and inspiring new thoughts. I know these are supposed to be one a day (like vitamins), but I can't leave a book unfinished. The format of this book was a little different in that the author began each day's devotional with a long passage from some famous author. He then followed that passage with several scriptures relating in some way, the connection not always immediately discernable.

....Made significant progress going through my office and tossing unneeded and/or unwanted "stuff"

....Bought a new bathrobe

....Kept three of my six grandchildren overnight, fed, bathed, clothed, and shopped with them, took them home to their parents intact, and lived to tell about it (and with a big smile on my face!) Those are some special children!!!!!

....Tried to figure out why my blog is loading so slowly all of a sudden. Spent a lot of time and still don't know. Probably one of the newly added blogrolls? Anybody have an idea for correction?

....Debated with self whether to have a yardsale, start selling on ebay, or see if I can find a charity to come pick up all the stuff I want to get rid of. I am continuing to pile it up in the dining room.

....Spent a lot of time reading blogs lately. There are a lot of good writers in the blogosphere.

....Made a batch of protein muffins.

....Made a batch of peanut butter protein balls.

....Wrote a family email.

....Talked to and prayed for my cousin who is having major surgery on his esophagus tomorrow.
