Literacy

I read this morning that Merriam-Wester has updated its dictionary. How many of these newly-added words/terms do you know?

bikini wax
steganography
SARS
amuse-bouche
retronym
wi-fi
metadata
chick flick
brain freeze
otology
cybrarian (the one I found most interesting)
hospitalist

These are just a few of the new additions to the dictionary. Some I thought were already in there, some I had never heard of. How up-to-date is your state of literacy?

I've heard of five of them -- can guess at a couple more, but that's it!

Well, SARS is a disease, right? Don't know what the initials stand for, though.
wi-fi is the new thing in music, right? Don't know what that's an abbreviation for.
Chick flick and brain freeze, I know. Although I don't always like chick flicks, I have experienced brain freeze on a number of occasions.
Otology, I know, since the doc who did surgery on Benjamin's ear was a pediatric neur-otologist.
The others are a mystery to me, although I could take a guess at some.

Isn't it interesting how language changes? Love you! Debi
